The Santa Clara Valley Engineering Fair Association is the official science fair for the county of Santa Clara.  Since 2004, MCS students have successfully participated in this prestigious and challenging event. The Discovery Channel invites a number of the first place winners to participate in the Discovery Challenge Young Scientist Competition.

Our most recent results are as follows:
2008 - Three 1st place winners.
2009 - Two 1st place winners.



                                             Future City Competition
Students in teams of three design and build a three-dimensional model of a city of the future. Students are required to incorporate major elements of city planning. This project has to be done on a phased basis, and requires serious commitment from the team members as well as their parents.

  • Phase 1 - SimCity Simulations
  • Phase 2 - Written Essay
  • Phase 3 - Build a Scale Model
  • Phase 4 - Oral Presentation of Project

A regional winner is selected to represent Northern California in National Finals in Washington D.C. during National Engineers Week. Our most recent results are as follows:
  • 2007 - 1st Place winner for Northern California, National Award
  • 2008 - 1st Place winner for Northern California, National Award: Most Accessible City
  • 2009 - 1st Place winner for Nothern California, National Award: Best Transportation Infrastructure
