Physical Education

Physical education is, fundamentally, a learning time.  It is goal centered, rather than activity centered. The focus is on the use of physical activity as a developmental medium in which the primary goal is not the activity itself, but rather achieving personal potential through the activity. The goals of physical education are:

Physchomotor: health fitness, motor proficiency, and expressive movement
Intellectual: knowledge and understanding of the human body in action
Decisional: develoment and reinforcement of value choices and commitment
(Adapted from Christian Schools International, 2006)

Milpitas Christian Schools offer physical education to our kindergarten through 8th grade students. We strive for students to experience varying movement throughout each physical education class, while teaching the importance of lifelong health and fitness, and taking care of oneself.  We teach correct movement patterning and object control skills with our younger students. When students reach the upper grades, they have a vast skill base and they continue to grow in their skills in an individual and team sport setting. While the students are learning to play sports, emphasis is placed on good sportsmanship, fair play, and game strategy.

Fitness testing is completed at six-week intervals. In the spring, MCS students participate in the Presidential Fitness testing program. Our students continue to show growth each year, according to the Presidential Fitness standards.
