Vocal & General Music Our professional music specialist teaches grades 1-5 music classes. An assistant staff person teaches kindergarten music. In TK, music is taught by the homeroom teacher. |
Instrumental Music Instruction is available for students in grades 4-8, at an additional fee. Please click here to enroll.  Beginning Band Students in grades 4-8 may join Beginning Band to learn to play the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet and trombone. No previous music reading experience is needed, but it is very helpful. It is preferred that students have played one of these instruments for one year. Percussion instruments are also offered. Percussion students must have music reading experience. Advanced Band Students who complete Beginning Band in the 4th grade are eligible for Advanced Band. Middle School students who need more time to develop on their instruments or wish to enhance this groups performance may also join this band. Instruments needed are flute, clarinet, bass clarinet,alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion. Middle School Band Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to join this group. The band meets two mornings each week, and during 8th period twice a week. Available instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. Jazz Band Middle School Band members are also welcome to join Jazz Band. It offers students an opportunity to try a different instrument. Available instruments: alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, and jazz guitar. Instructions/Lessons Most students receive one 30 minute lesson per week, along with group rehearsals. These take place during the school day, with instructor and parent consent.
