Elementary School

At MCS we realize the importance of educating the whole child so that the full potential of each individual may be reached.  Each child is uniquely created by God with a special set of gifts and talents.  A challenging curriculum in math, language arts, science, and social studies helps the student to succeed in the future while building strong faith, good character, and appreciation for aesthetic experiences.

The library is a hub of learning as students choose from over 10,000 books, arranged and coded to guide them to literature appropriate to their interests and reading level.
A skilled and knowledgeable librarian helps them to make choices and evaluate the literature through a computerized comprehension-testing program.

Physical edu
cation is composed of instruction in the essentials of healthy living,  physical fitness accountability, and sports and recreational skills acquisition.  Competitiveness is minimized in elementary school.

Technology instruction is focused on using computers to
enhance learning in both
skills and content areas.  Two computer labs, and multiple classroom computers make technology a viable means to increase productivity and facilitate learning opportunities.

Music and art are vital to developing a healthy lifestyle.  It is important that students recognize these gifts are provided for our enjoyment by
God, the Creator.  Learning about the history of both art and music fall within the scope of the curriculum along with vocal and instrumental instruction, music theory, and performance experiences. The FAME program, sponsored and operated entirely by parent volunteers is a key component in helping students become well-rounded individuals.

Experiential learning activities such as outdoor education, field trips, literature days,  theme days, science labs, and guest speakers are memorable events that students enjoy and remember with fondness into their adult years.
