Milpitas Christian School
On June 10, 2014, Milpitas Christian School will graduate 54 students.
The majority of students will attend three leading local private schools; the others will attend five local public schools. After the rigors of K-8 academia, the graduates will enjoy the summer vacation and prepare for high school.
Three Milpitas Christian School graduates shared about their experience. Katheryn Li, said, “MCS was very uplifting both academically and spiritually. I’ve grown so much. I would highly recommend MCS to anyone looking for a warm supportive environment.” Brian Dao revealed “Classmates are like family. Though we will all enter new chapters in our lives, we will all remember the strong foundation we were fortunate to obtain at MCS.” Megan McEwen pointed out, “MCS is like family and home. It’s school, but you get to grow up with classmates and family. Monday’s are not so bad. I’ve grown so much spiritually, and academically too.”
“The faculty and staff of MCS are just as proud of these young people as their parents are. We know they are academically prepared for high school as well as being prepared for making wise life decisions because we know their character and their spirits. This class is eager to learn and take their place in the Kingdom of God,” says Ken Van Meter, Ed.D., School Superintendent.
Most Milpitas Christian School graduates apply and are accepted into the high schools they wish to attend. With high student achievement test scores, ranking in the top 15% in the United States, MCS students breeze through high school to enter America’s top named colleges and universities.

Milpitas Christian School Tests Its Earthquake Early Warning System
Milpitas Christian School (MCS) has significantly improved its ability to prepare for an earthquake. In April 2004, MCS installed QuakeGuard™, an earthquake early warning system manufactured by Seismic Warning Systems, Inc. The system uses an advanced, patented P-wave technology that notifies the school of an impending earthquake before the ground begins to shake.
Milpitas Christian School simulated the procedures it will go through in the event of an earthquake, using state-of-the-art real-time earthquake detection technology. Representatives from Seismic Warning Systems, the California Office of Emergency Services (OES), the Santa Clara County Office of Emergency Services, and Chief Mihovich from the Milpitas Fire Department together looked on as the early warning system alerted students, faculty, and staff of an imminent earthquake. Milpitas Christian School uses a highly acclaimed standard operating procedure for natural disasters.
The California Government Code, Title 2, Division 1, Chapter 7, Article 5, Section 8587.8, mandates the collaborative development of a statewide earthquake early warning system in California. Milpitas Christian School has taken the initiative to implement an earthquake preparedness technology that can best protect its human and physical assets in the event of a quake.
“MCS employs this state-of-the-art technology to enhance school safety. Parents expect the safest environment possible for their children,” says Dr. Ken Van Meter, MCS Superintendent.
