Preschool December 4, 2023 Newsletter

Preschool News!

Preschool has had a busy week!  Our children have been preparing for Christmas.  First and foremost, they are learning that Jesus is indeed the reason for the season!

Our 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s have been busy making decorations, cards, and art to celebrate the season.  Each classroom is also preparing songs that they will share with their parents and families at their Christmas programs.  We are looking forward to seeing you all at your child’s Christmas show.

• Our children have been participating in STEAM activities in their classes—they are discovering the properties of density, and why some things float and others sink!  Ask your child what they have done in their science center this week.
• Our 4’s enjoyed the play, Pinocchio, at the Birchwood campus on Friday.  This was a great experience for our children, and our parents as well!  We enjoyed this field trip, and are looking forward to more as the year progresses.

• Check out our slide/video presentation in the drop off/pick up room!  Come see what your children have been up to for the week, and see how they are learning and growing each day.  Thank you Mrs. Fennell!!
• If you are able, please join us in blessing local children and seniors by taking a gift wish card from our Giving Tree in the drop off/pick up room!  This is a tangible way to teach your child gratefulness for all they have and the gift of giving.
• Please join us for Parents in Prayer near the drop off room each Monday morning at 9am.  This is a lovely and quick opportunity for parents and staff to pray, hope, and be grateful for all that we have.

We love learning at Milpitas Christian Preschool!

• Please remember to drive slowly—5 MPH—in our parking lot.
• Hold your child’s hand as you walk to and from school each day—this gives you some extra special time with your child, and helps to keep them safe.  Each child at preschool is the most important one!
• If your child is not feeling well, or if they have a fever, please keep your child home to rest and heal.  Our children need to be fever free for 24 hours with no medication before they return to our campus.  This keeps all of our children and staff healthy and safe.  If your child is exhibiting Covid symptoms, please test them and let us know the results.

Upcoming Events:
  • December 11 MCS Christmas Concert, CCCM, 6:30pm - All of our families are welcome to attend
  • December 22-Jan 2Christmas Break, Preschool Closed January 3 Preschool resumes

A Note From Co-Head of School

Dear MCS Families,

You may have noticed we talk a lot about the Portrait of a Graduate at MCS. We want to be able to demonstrate to you, our families, the outcomes of the years of investment and work we put into our students’ education. In my role I have the opportunity and privilege to meet and talk to our former students and learn about their post-MCS lives and achievements. One such former student is Anita Chen.

I was introduced to Anita by a fellow MCS Board member, Mr. Hermie Smit. Anita attended MCS for several years before being homeschooled. Anita’s story is one which portrays the value of hard work, perseverance and family, underscored by her love and faith in God. She is an accomplished and talented educator and leader in her community. I invite you to learn more about her at the following link. Anita recently announced that she is making a run for California State Congress. Watching her campaign video and seeing her mention MCS as the school she attended filled me with enthusiasm and pride. I’ve invited Anita to speak to our students at an upcoming chapel and I look forward to having her bless our students and staff. When I talk with Anita, I see a shining example of the MCS Portrait of a Graduate who is seeking to transform her world.

At MCS, we partner together with our families to make the MCS Portrait of a Graduate a reality in every one of our students, making them:
  • Followers of Christ
  • Effective communicators
  • Creative and complex thinkers
  • Community contributors
Thank you for allowing us to join you on this amazing journey to equip all our students to become followers of Christ to transform their worlds!

In His service,
Alex Lovo
Board President and Co-Head of School
